Hollyhock Sculpture

Inspired by the tenacious beauty of this most wonderful plant, the catalyst for designing Simon’s own interpretation was the sight of one growing undaunted from the tarmac of the central reservation of a busy motorway.

With its column of blooms, it rises tall and unyielding, yet it is still delicate and fragile. The way that the flowers turn towards the light, new growth continually replacing that which has withered and fallen speaks of this resilience but also echos the passage of time. It is this dual aspect that Simon has captured in this sculpture.

Forged from mild steel that is finished with an aged galvanise. The Hollyhock sculpture can be left outside all year and requires no maintenance. It stands at approximately 1.1 m tall.
